I have what looks like a spider web growing in my tank. It comes from under or in a rock. I first noticed it as about 1/2 inch sorta clear/whitish thread. Now it is about 3 inchs long. And it appears to have chased my condy away, but not for sure as condy is new and i just got some good lighting.(6 g tank had 8w fl no now have 18 w pc half white, half blue.)

The thing is thicker at its origin, whih I can not see too well, and real thin at the end. Also there are some bends, about 90 degrees in 2 or more placves. At the thicker en it appears to be webby, I have not been able to get it to show in a picture yet.

I should not have said spider web, I meant to say looks like one thread of a spider web.

It's probably a spagetti worm. Feather dusters have a crown of feathers that collect food. Spagetti worms casts out a mucus thread and food sticks to it.

Is it kinda thick, like around lets say 1/8"and clear. I have something in my sump that resembles that but mine looks more like a worm. Although come to think about it i did see something like what you mentioned come out of my leather, it looked like it was pulling things from the water and retracting them back in to the leather.

worm?

It is not thick, more like the thickness of a human hair at the end and about the thickness of a pencil lead as far as I can see towards the base, the rest of it is under/behind a rock at sand level.

Sounds like it could be a vermited worm. They have a small calcious tube that extends and retracts what looks like a web of snot. They arent necessarily bad they they are ugle and their snot webs will annoy some corals.
