Quick teaser update. Ordered a surflow mod kit for the maxijets. I plan on using both impellers and just doing a DIY shroud for the second one. I figure why waste the other impeller??? with those 2 MJ mods and the return pump I will have about 40x turnover and we will go from there...
The rock work and sand is in but I am not sure I am totally happy with the aquascaping. I will post a pic for you guys tomorrow to solicit your suggestions. I have been working 7-12's and will be till the end of march. but they are starting a "fatigue day" program so I will be off tomorrow and then once every 14 days... Point being, sorry for the slow progress and lack of updates, just been busy... pics to come..

P.S. what are your suggestions for heaters? amount and brand?

with sump and fuge i will be close to 200 total volume.. thanks peoples

I would go with the TECO TR-15 chiller which is super quiet and vent it into your attic space or through a wall so it pulls cooler air from the room but dumps the heat outside. I had a TR10 and upgraded to the TR20 when I went with a larger system. I have loved both and run them in my dinning room/front tv room. You can get the TR-15 with the heater built in.

As far as a vent for the cigar smoke you'll need something with some good pull for that large of a room. Maybe 2 well placed bathroom vents from Lowes or Home Depot. They have some super quiet ones that can pull a fairly large amount of air. If your really serious about it then take a quick read through this article.

Aquascaping

Ok please tell me what you think... I am not completely happy with it. Especially the right side between the sheer wall (overflow) and the start of the arch.. I originally had that open with no rock connecting them.. so I put some there and now I still dont know??? Maxijet placement is temporary just to keep things moving..

I do need heater suggestions for this set up... Size? amount? placement?

Thanks here are my crappy pics!!!

I like it... maybe move that solo rock below the arch a tad to the left. :)
and darnit, you've got me wanting to re-arrange myne again.
Probasbly don't need the heater, unless that area tends to get pretty cold. Between pumps and lights, I find myne is pretty warm.

I was thinking maybe turn the arch 180 so that the right side of the tank doesn't look so heavy, Then again you have to consider that once you start adding corals it will look completely different again. What types of corals are you planning? I find for me this pretty much dictates my aquascape, between their placement needs and expected grow out. Good luck I am sure that it will turn out nice no matter haw you go.

funny, when I see threads like this, with other guys saying they wish their wives were this "cool", I am thinking, I wish my husband was this cool! Ha! He is very cool but not really into the hobby enough to build me something like this, much less help with all the maintenance of it. Anyway, I'm thrilled with my new lil 58 and can't wait to get it all running.

I like the rock work a lot! I agree with turning the arch so the larger end is to the left. You should totally do a foam rock background! I was reading a thread last night about a 265g on RC where the gal (yes, a girl!) did a sweet foam rock background. It looks amazing. I'm totally going to do this for my 58!

I saw the same thread.. Yes it was pretty impressive!! I considered it (still am actually) still undecided..

Mike,

it will be a mixed reef. SPS, LPS, Softies. I am thinking it would be much easier to leave the arch as is and put a huge birds nest or pink pulsing zenia on the blank left side??? may be I will pull out the small rocks to the right of the arch base to thin it out a bit..

Thanks again for the input from all.. keep it coming
