Just unpacked my new skimmer and, uh, this thing is a tad bigger than I anticipated. Behold, the brand spanking new Bubble Magus 180EX. This is the new style cone with the ATB body. The footprint is not terribly large (roughly 9" x 14") but this thing is 25 1/2" tall. This is a pic of it standing in front of my 42" stand. :-o

This is replacing my NAC6A which stands 19 1/2" tall. It's amazing how much taller those 6" make this 180EX.

A little closer shot

I'm dumping this in the sump tomorrow morning after a water change and vacuuming the sump. Very anxious to see how it performs. It runs on an Atman PH4000 and pulls 1050 l/h of air. Rated at 260+ gallons.

Sweet looking skimmer, I like that color scheme alot better than the flashy red and blue. Those atman pumps are something else. Cheap n really effective. How much did this skimmer set you back?

Take a pic of the skimmate after a day

MSRP is $399. I got it for less than three bills including shipping.

Yeah I'll post up some action shots after it settles in.

I've got about 3-4" from top of collection cup to bottom of stand. It's in and running. Action shot

An update:

Been running for a week and I'm still fine-tuning things but here is an updated pic. I ran it a bit too wet the first couple of days but think I have it dialed in now and am starting to get some nice thick gunk. Been very pleased with this purchase so far, exceptionally good value.

A couple of weeks in and I'm very pleased with this skimmer. Water level inside skimmer has remained constant. I've done two water changes since installing and the skimmer has responded well to restarts. It's pulling some nastiness at a serious rate and I'm getting a half-full collection cup each week. This thing took no time at all to dial in. Updated pic.
