Theres going to be alot of different opinions on this topic. I'd start off with sand and put different types of caulerpa in it. Try to get some sand from different people to increase diversity in pods and other life.
do u know any fish stores near the NW 290 area that i can buy some caulerpa from?? thanks
and ive also read that people put macro algae into their refugium
is taht needed??
There are many different varieties and some people like some more than others. I don't use any currently so I don't know the best/favorite types. You can generally get some from MARSH members by asking nice. Some give it away others try to trade it for other varities or sell it.
You can also ask to trade live sand to get more variety of life from different established tanks.
I recently saw a thread posted on RC where E. Borneman listed his first three choices for macro alga in a fuge. They were, Chaetomorpha, Ulva, and Graciliaria.
