How far (miles) do yall travel for work one way and what would you consider too far? Might be coming into something but its quite a bit further from my current job. Its gonna come down to $$ in the end I'm sure as I'm technically not "hurting" for a job so I can be choosy.
Not that yalls opinion is going to be the deciding factor, just thought I would be nosy :D

3 out of 5 days, I drive into the Med Cntr from Katy. It's only about 30ish miles, but can sometimes take well over an hour to commute. I grew up out here, so it's just something I consider to be part of the package. I listen to talk radio, so I don't really seem to mind that much.

from my house (west airport/dairy ashford) i drive about 20mins to my current job on beltway 8 n clay road. Not to bad

But when Strictly Rock n Reef opens i will be driving from my house all the way up north about 45 mins drive so that will be kinda far, but u do what you have to do for work.

From the house, to son's school, then work is 38 miles. From work to get straight home, Another 21 miles. Total of 59 miles round trip. At least one day I have to pick up my son from school after practice.

My house to the office is about 10 miles. It used to be less then a mile. So that's about 20 miles round trip.

And I complain about my measly 18.6 mile commute! But mine is on Hwy 290, probably the worst in town right now. Good day, it is 30 min at the speed limit, bad day it is 45-60 min. But on a very good day, using the beltway, I can make it in 22 min! :D

As for how far I would drive, probably 30 miles or so. I would just have to figure out how much it cost, and more important, how long it would take. I will not spend an hour in traffic every day, nor will I spend $3-5 in tolls either. That is why I arrange my work times to be after the main rush hour traffic.

32.5 miles each way - 1 hour; That's about my limit. Any further would have to be for something I was passionate about or payed way more than I get now.

+1 on changing work times. If I can leave at 4:45p instead of 5, it saves me about 30 min drive time. Most cases, I can do that.

i used to commute to sugar land from baytown every day. it was 55 miles and about an hour and 15 minutes on a good day (taking the beltway).

i now travel 3 miles exactly...drive way to parking spot. much nicer commute =).

At one time... almost 55 miles on way. From greens point to spring, to I-10/belt 8 to Elysian/Cavalcade, and reverse it at the end of the day.

Now, as Im hunting I explain my salary requirements are dependent on my commute distance or traffic factors, and 25 miles is abuot my limit. It irks me, that 35 miles can take over 70 minutes.

Hi, Mario.
I think the important thing is not the miles but the minutes. I used to commute 30 miles one way, took 45 minutes. Then I changed jobs and the miles reduced to 22 but it still took 45 minutes. For me, that was a wasted hour and a half every day. What a drag...

good luck,
Steve

ya i hear ya. thanks for the advice everyone. I am still thinking about it. from my house its approx 44 miles but its all beltway the whole time so I will have to think if the toll cost, fuel cost, and time cost will be worth it.

Sounds like a friend's last job. He lives in Pearland too, and his job got transferred to Hwy 290 & Telge. Quite a commute! Luckily he went early, so he missed a lot of the traffic.

Just turned down a job at 290 and Telge. 50+ miles one way plus tolls. It was quite a bit more money, but that is a lot of time on the road and not with the family.
