just because starfish look like each other, does not mean that they are one and the same. taxa can hardly be defined by morphology w/ these things... wouldn't be suprised to find people pulling things out blindly because they read a RC thread. Um.. RC refers to reef central, not reefcreeper. :)

At least you've seen them eating your SPS. Good luck getting rid of them. I wonder if they will consume other things like shrooms or lps.

I've seen the ones that eat the SPS, and they do look different from the scavenging Asterina sp. If you're not sure though, yank 'em, or move them to a safe system. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'd pretty much yank anything that I saw consistently on/around any of my corals if it appeared the coral wasn't doing well. I haven't had any SPS up to now, but I know enough that they are much more fragile/tempermental than the corals I've been dealing with. I've got these little stars in most of my tanks, and they haven't ever hung out on any of my corals. I'll keep a close eye on any SPS I attempt in the future though to make sure that they don't take a liking to it. Thanks for the heads-up Reefcreeper.
