can an icecap 430 drive T5's if you change out the endcaps? And if yes, any idea how many and at what wattage (for t12 it claims it will drive a total of two bulbs to 110 watts each).

yes, it depends on the length of the bulbs -- diff. lengths have diff. wattages.

So.. if you have a couple 4' bulbs, it'll go ~54W each. Think I heard they overdrive a little (?), but I am not sure to what wattage. The ballast should say how many total watts it can put out. Then, just fit the bulbs to 'em so the sum of the watts doesn't exceed that number.

There is also a maximum bulb length that it can handle. I'm pretty sure the 430 can handle 2 4' T5's, maybe 3 shorter bulbs.

THE 430 CAN SAFELY HANDLE ONLY TWO 4' T'5S, period or KABOOM.

Ok, the caps are off now, sorry about that, but i BLOW up my Icecap by putting three 4'ers on it. I talked to tech support and after researching, that is what they told me. Of course, i had to have mine rebuilt.

The 430 will overdrive the 4' 55 watt bulbs to around 80 watts per Andy@Icecap.

If you have any questions about using T5's, then call Icecap first, they will tell you if it can work or not.

thanks I read somewhere about a limit of 8' total, but did not know if that applied to VHO only or included T5's
