I was given this from a friend who didn't know what it was. When I got it it was mostly white and has been turning brown. It is mounted on some type of oyster I think since it opens up and closes. What the hack are these two things? Bad or good? Thanks.

Definitely don't throw it away! It turning brown is a great sign, white is very unhealthy. Its beginning to recover.

Is the clam-oyster good or bad? I would try to take a pic when it open up.

The oyster is still alive? That is awesome! They are filter feeders. Clams and oysters clean the water column.

Yes it is still alive but I do not know if it's a clam or oyster it normally opens at night and early morning then remains closed thru the day. When I shine my light to see it inside it closes it shell quick so I don't know what it is.
