If anybody gets a PM from "the Diesel"... (1 Viewer)

Just a heads up to everybody. I talked to Ben "Diesel" yesterday and he told me that someone signed up on Marsh 2 days ago with the screen name "the Diesel" and even stole his original avatar with the cross on it. You can check the members list for yourself and see.

Now it won't matter much for a post or thread, but some might be fooled by a PM thinking it is from Ben and none of us would know about it so we couldn't call this person out on it. Just watch out guys and gals. Not sure what this person is up to or why.

I'll check it out and do an IP trace to see if it's anyone that's already a member. It's obviously someone that knows Ben. If it's a current member that's up to no good that is a quick way to get banned from MARSH.

Thanks Mark. Ben told me about it and said he had no idea who it was. I just don't want somebody dealing with a person they think is Ben via PM and have something happen.

Kinda interesting. How did Ben even find this person? They have no posts. Was he searching for variations of his name? I've got all their info. Going to delete the account and ban their IP address. This will block them from accessing MARSH from their Verizon cell phone. I could also contact Verizon and report abuse. If they want to PM me and discuss their intentions then maybe I won't go that far.

Don't know how Ben found about them. I figured one of the BOD's that approve new accounts gave him a heads up. He just sent me a text yesterday informing me to be careful on Marsh because it looked like someone was trying to impersonate him. He changed his avatar because they copied his. I didn't ask how he found out though. I sent this person a PM asking who they were and what their intentions were yesterday but no response.

I believe someone pinged him. He pinged me yesterday, I was going to look in mod panel but can't from work... last night was a nightmare/madhouse at home so didn't really follow up like I should have... I did do searches yesterday but was searching for "the diesel" instead of "thediesel".

We don't personally approve guest accounts. They verify their email and the guest account it made. We do that just to make sure spybots don't auto create accounts on MARSH. Any "human" with an email can create a guest account.

Anyway, this account has been deleted and they won't be accessing MARSH from that phone again. If Ben sees this or you talk to him, he can use his avatar again. Nobody will be using it.

Exactly why we do not allow guests to sell on MARSH. Some guests get upset but its for the good of the club.
