Carbon, GFO, Biopellets, which one?

I have an extra Eheim 2213 lying around, and I figure I should put it to good use. Now I just need to decide what media to run.

I use RO/DI water, so common heavy metals and other contaminants aren't an issue, which is what would initially make me lean away from carbon. GFO only removes phospate, but is cheap and is really good at what it does. Biopellets are more expensive, but remove both nitrates and phosphates.

Oh the decisions...

Gfo is not cheap, I paid an arm and a leg for mines. I run carbon in a mesh bag..... And also 2213 might not have enough power to Properly tumble biopellets or Gfo.

Not to mention 2213 isn't the easiest to change media on. I sold my 2215 and got a reactor.

You could run the carbon in the 2213, then get a BRS reactor for the GFO. I haven't looked into it, but I've been seeing a lot of bad things about biopellets lately.

The only thing I'd run in the can is carbon. However, you'd be better off selling it and using the money on something else.

That being said, I run carbon in a bag and GFO in a reactor 24/7.
