I have an extremely paitent girlfriend and I leave very detailed directions. Ive been doing reef tanks since 2000 and been in the oil field since 07 so its kinda hard some times. But its worth it.

I don't have a problem. I can stop reefing any time I want!......Really I can!!

I love the quote! That is the thought of most in this hobby.

As for as City Pets, I have only been there once but I really liked the whole experience. Great customer service, nice looking tanks, and excellent prices that people like myself can afford. I also asked about the discount and after seeing the $5.00 frags and other items PLUS all of the help that Donnie and other store employees gives to us really make up for the discount. I will defiantly go back and will be spending my money there. City Pets has a range for all budgets.

I can relate about the discount....

I think many of us have been there where we go somewhere ready to use a discount or coupon and get caught off guard. We get disappointed that we cannot use it--whether a fine print, expiration, or whatever.

I have been to CityPets (CP) for years, but only in the last 5 years, it was for reefing. As this should be a hobby, it shouldn't have to cost more than some of the other hobbies that I have. But, it does, getting any discounts is always welcoming whether you can afford $10 or $1000. But, being disappointed always rubs me the wrong way, too. The good part is that I once I get my setup going, I find myself only returning once in a while and spending less.

Over the years, CP has great selection. My friends and I like the $5. frag section because it is like finding gems in the ruff. Give a little TLC to a $5. frag, and after a few months, it looks like the $25 piece sold elsewhere. I think recently, CP cleaned out that section--for some reason I remember that those sections were completely filled last Nov/Dec. So, recently, I have been a little disappointed. But knowing what I know, and the frag section can potentially keep growing over time with each shipment, I will definately come back to check it out for newer things.

CP is obviously a popular place by the comments so far. Such that, I suspect that any colorful pieces of corals in demand would have quickly been picked through. I think many people window shop weekly after work, during lunch breaks, or a weekend trip for supplies. It is probably one of those things someone *else* would have picked up any awesome selection at good prices. Everything else that is left is probably for people like me that visits them monthly or less frequently.

Like anything at LFS, you should check periodically or frequently as each week may potentially have new selections. Another thing, CP is good at taking special orders at reasonable prices. That may be a good solution if you are limited by availability (due to your work commitements), and if you already know what you want.

Finally, I would recommend in attending the frag swaps and events sponsored by Marsh. After all, that is where your membership dues really contributes in. It is a great way to trade, obtain, or purchase frags that may be less costly than the stores. Also, participating with the forums and chatting up a few people with corals that you want is another good way to further the propagation of corals--many of which may be attending a Marsh event, so one trip can be very fruitful.

Trying to catch up. I haven't read everything word for word but what I can tell you is that we only have 200 paid members of marsh at this time so the sponsor/contributors are and will always be a vital asset to this club.

City Pets has always been a contributor and very generous one too. They have worked with us on group buys that helped people save money and you can always count on Donnie and David to offer honest helpful advice.

As we work on the site upgrade I will make it a point to clearly define the lines between contributors and discount sponsors. Currently they are divided on the sponsors page and every sponsor that offers a discount has that discount listed on their forum and sponsor page.

Hope this helps. Just finished cleaning my tank up... man I was way behind.

When is the site going to be upgraded? :)

A very good question :D I'm working on a list of requirements so we can farm out the upgrade. We have the new base software. The Board is going to meet on the 9th and discuss in detail how we want to proceed then we'll be posting in the members section seeking member input on what everybody would like to see.

We've have a few threads about it and tried to get the upgrade going but finding the time hasn't been easy. It will be easier, faster, and less chance for issues to pay a web designer to get the upgrade complete and turn over a finished product to us.
