I thought the members only forum was for that.

used to be.. dunno the 'why' behind the change.
Im guessing to try to cut some possible spam/scammage and push membership.

This was put in place to limit the number of guests that use MARSH for the sole purpose of buying and selling. Not only that, but to bring backwhat MARSH is really here for:

Our Purposes:

To exchange information within the group to share cumulative experiences and to ensure successful husbandry of our members' aquaria;
To participate in education within the club through speakers, Internet presence, outreach, newsletters, and interaction with the trade;
To promote captive propagation and breeding; and
To promote conservation both within and without the hobby.

There were a number of announcements pertaining to this a tthe end of the year:

Starting January 1st all Buying, Selling, Trading areas of require paid membership with MARSH to post listings.

*Guests will still be able to read and reply to posts in the general BST's.

*Members will now be able to edit their posts.

*We will still keep the Members Only BST so that Members can still post items for Member's Only

the target goal behind the change was to cut out the non-stop selling that was going on...especially from guests. marsh was turning into a craigslist and that's not what the board of directors wanted and it's not a direction this club should be going. it is a temporary thing, but it's working and may stay in place.

it was not designed to push marsh membership. our club events and activities are designed to do that. last year we didn't have a lot of activity. members/guests were not participating, events were not getting planned, and it seemed that everyone on marsh was simply too busy. the board has a lot of things planned for this year that we started planning for late last year and the new bod is planning even more events.
