Sorry to hear that! Your car looked very nice, and it shows that you take pride in it. I agree with Llama! Hope you can get it back into shape soon. Just part of living in Houston.

That's a shame...

Do you have uninsured motorist on your policy?

That's a matter of personal opinion. Personally I avoid suits, unless I have no choice. If you feel you deserve it though, do your thing. :)

I would try to work out the repair cost w/ his parent first. You have the option to they them to small claim court if they refuse to pay. I believe they up the max amount to $7000 if not it's $5000.

I don't know about deserving anything but I'm out $500(deductibles) thru no fault of my own, plus my car will show up in car max as being involved in an accident which will reduce 2-4k in value..How do you drive around in a 2007 Chevy Silvarado without insurance is beyond me..

you can also claim loss of value. ask your insurance agent. my wife's car got hit and we got quite a bit more after the repairs were made.

and yeah, take them to court.

I just saw the picture, you have damage in the front...that will be hard to proof in trial? Did he get a citation?

I was literally pumping gas at a Shell station when it happened and no citation was given. Police doesn't come out to private property but I do have witnesses..

I wonder if the truck is financed. If there is a lien on it recorded with the county, I'm sure the lien holder would like to know about the accident. And I don't know for sure if this would be on a carfax. I've had things that did not involve the police, and they never showed.

go to the shell see if they wouldn't mind giving you copies of their tapes and take them to court. It will suck (we just went through it) when you try to sell your car unless you don't file on ins. carmax is good and so are most dealership appraisers when it comes to finding damage on a vehicle.

Even though your car was sitting still it still counts as a claim and may increase your rates as well. my wife was smushed at a stoplight by a guy that wasn't paying attention and even though she was at a complete stop and was not liable at all, our rates went up because she was "involved". Take care of it now because later you may wish you had after statute of limitations has passed.

I did the same thing. It is called a "Diminished Value Claim". It was an extra $1k for $2k damage.

Could be orange peel in the paint that needs to be sanded out? Unless they used the exact same color bumper, it would probably have some different color overspray on the back side if it was a used one. And make sure they used a flex additive on the bumper paint. Otherwise it will all crack and peel if it gets hit again.
