So, my tank is doing nicely, I've begun to add some SPS and some ZOAS, and a few mushroom and now want to get rid of the laser powerhead approach and am wanting to change to Koralia.

I have a deep sand bed, sugar sized grains, so I can't have such a force that will create a sand storm. What size of Koralia would you recommend, and how many?

The return is 600Gph ad I direct that towards the rear of the tank and it creates sort of a loop with the surface water.

Thanks!

Two Koralia 2's will do the job. I just setup a 58 with the same setup and a quiet1 2200 return pump which puts out similar to your return.

I'd set the koralia's low on the side walls and point them up bouncing the flow off the surface.

Great...

Thanks, it helps when someone has experience with the same size tank, Llama! I have done some research, and was questioning 2, or 3s and have read the pros/cons of the two. In the end, I agree with your advice, I think I'll go with two 2's.

For what it's worth, I was going to post two pics of my tank before you replied, but I'll go ahead and do it now... it's bare, and not much growing, but what I have put in so far has been growing/reproducing. Corals are growing good, and zoas are multiplying nicely.

Thanks...

I would just go with two 3's. I had a 55 (48" long) with two 3's. You've got a reasonable amount of rockwork in there too.

Besides the 3's have the exact same dimensions as the 2's.

Either will do the job, and H is right about the size. I guess it depends on what you plan to have in the tank. When I saw how much flow the return pump was creating I decided 2's were the way I would go. Especially now that I see you have the same single return line. If it were Y'd I'd say you couldn't go wrong with the 3's since the output at the end would be weaker.

I will add that the 55 is 48" long and your 58 is 36". So I understand why H had 3's in.

Am I correct in assuming that you mean you have no rock against the back wall? That had to be a hell of a time stacking rock. :)

Yes....

Correct, I've no rock touching any glass. Stacking was not that bad, I have to admit though, I had the luxury of picking out the rock that would work best for me from my brother who was tearing his tank down.

Also, I created a type of platform for the rock to rest on, sort of a table, form acrylic. The support, or bottom is a series of five 3x28 inch 1/4 acrylic strips welded on to the "table" that holds the rock. The method in which I bank the current to one side causes a current to flow down and under through the channels of the stand. I can see the particles blowing out the opposite end which lets me know it is not stagnant down there. We'll see how it works out.

Thanks
