I am trying to light my 33Long tank and I have decided to go LED. Since a pair of new Hydras are not in the budget, and i haven't found any smoking deals on any other fixtures, I guess I am going DIY.

I emailed an LED site that offers affordable kits for reefs (bridgelux) and I asked about number of LEDs and color and this is the response I received:

"Thanks for your enquiry!

For 33 gal reef tank(48x12x12), we recommend 36 Bridgelux LED with 80 degree optics.

The LED color ratio can be 8 white 6500K 4 white 4500K, 8 royal blue 4 normal blue, 4 pink, 4 cyan, 4 violet 420nm.

This color combo would have full spectrum and about 14000K-18000K look."

Does this seem like reasonable advice? Does this color combination seem correct?

A few post of mine back I posted a link about full spectrum build on nano reef.com. Really good resource. I also posted a fee other options. Have have around 250 in my diy led setup. A reefbreeders value line is cheaper I think.
