lighting for soft and hard corals (1 Viewer)

Question for all of you who have successfully kept both hard and soft corals at the same time. How do you go about it without frying the softies? Also how do you go about placing them? Do you just make sure they are well separated?

you can get as simple as cheap fluoresants or PC lighting...

Shield them from the light under overhangs or see how they do on the bottom of the tank and don't place a fast growing softie next to a SPS frag.

How much light do you have over your tank ? I place my on the sides of the tank and under the brace.

None yet, but we just bought Keith's 2 400w Custom Sea Life pendants with 20Ks in them and I also want to run 2 160w actinic with my Ice Cap.

Seriously though, you shouldn't have to worry with only 2 400w halides over a 6' tank. You will have to raise them higher to get more spread, and you should have enough areas in the middle and on the sides to put softies.

I was just wandering what coral could i have with 2 x 55 lighting on my 25 gallon. And i upgraded from 15 watt bulbs to 55 watt bulbs and dont see a brightness difference. SOmething wrong?

When I had PCs over my 25G I could keep any kind of Soft Coral or LPS.

Actually I was thinking "How cool" when I saw your Frogspawn under the blues and how can I keep that with some lps. I guess I want the best of both worlds
