I have new lighting, not sure what it's called or the kind, but it is a 60IN strip that has the daylights on one switch, antinic on one switch and moon leds on the other. The bulbs are flourescent with connection on one end. Anyway, what it the recommended time setting for each? Daylight should be set for how many hours? Antinic should be set for how long??

sounds like power compact to me. on my tank i run the actinic for 2 hours then the mh kicks on for 5hours then the actinics shuts off 1 hour after that. The lights are on during the night time because thats when i am home most of the time.

here is my timing (not the holy grail, just an example). i am for a low power consumption tank. 10:00 actinic on 2:00 white or halides in my case on 10:00 white or halides off 11:00 actinic off 11:01 moonlights on 2:30 moonlights off.

you can play around with settings. i work an 8-5 job, so this is convenient for me.

How is this?

I have my white daylights come on from 9AM to 9PM, the antinic from noon to 6PM. The moon lights come on 9PM to 9AM. Any issues with this?

I also turn on my actinic first, next MH on , then MH off, then actinic off.

My question to you all is whether I need the actinic on when the MH is on?

It's entirely up to you, actinic spectrum is really useful for bringing out the colors of your coral, doesn't contribute to growth or health of your coral.

I need some advice.
I want to see and feed the fish at 6:30-7am before I go to work and I want to see them at night when I am at home, may be to 9-10 pm.

Knowing we don't want to leave the lights on for 13-15 hrs a day, I wonder if it ok to turn the lights on early, then off during the day and then on again in the late afternoon?

Would that upset the day-night cycle of the fish/ corals?

If you want to see your fish at night, leave your actinic's on.
if you have moon lights use them instead.
look up coral spawning, you will see that running your actinics at night imitates natural moonlight and promote coral spawing.

I have the
Coralife 72 Inch Aqualight Pro, 3x150W HQI MH Lamp + 4x96W PC + 4x1W Lunar LED

If I leave just the PC on, it's still as bright as day.
If I leave just the Lunar LED, it's too dim to see.
