What is the minimum lighting required for soft corals? We're starting off with one Ice Cap 430 and thinking about adding either another Ice Cap or Workhorse. Will that be sufficient for the soft corals?

Depends on what the coral is, but I have seen mushrooms grow under regular fluoresant lighting...

Karen what size tank? You might want to consider a Icecap660 if the bulbs are 48" are longer as you can use 4 48" bulbs instead of 2 for only 20.00 more.

It's a 135g. We already have the 430 but will add whatever we need to do for softies and hopefully save up for MH down the road.

By the time you get another icecap and 2-4 bulbs, you've almost spent enought for MH

www.carolinacorals.com has great prices on electric ballasts and bulbs.

your current lights will be ok for now, don't waist time and money on a lighting band-aid, save up for the lighting cure if you are wanting MH.
