Has there been any thought to making it required to have the location filled out in your profile in order to be able to post in the marketplace? That weighs in the decision process as to if an item is of interest.
Example: there is an ad now that had good prices on fish and there was interest but it turns out that the person isn't even near Houston. I always see people asking where the advertiser is located.

Thanks

I would like to see this myself. It is a rule that they must post a location and a price. It doesn't usually happen that way though.

if someone is posting an item of sale w/out having location or $ or whatever just hit the triangle with the exclamation and report the post. We try to catch infractions but do miss them at times.

That is a solution to fix it after it happens, but why not keep it from happening in the first place if it's possible. We have to register to be on the site and If I remember correctly be a paid member to advertise, why not make location mandatory. Not trying to be a pest just seems better to prevent than have to report then someone contact the user, then fix.

Actually I agree with you 100%. I will ping Mark about it to see if it is possible in the forum software.

Unfortunately there is no way to force the location field in a member's profile be filled out before allowing them to create threads in the BST forums. Even if there was a security rule I could turn on then people could just put "Houston" as their location or "Texas". The software doesn't know exactly where everyone lives. This is a MARSH rule that we just have to try and enforce manually.

As Steve posted, we ask that everyone help us by reporting threads that do not comply. It's the best we can do.
