Well I'm getting pretty close to being able to fill my 120 with salt water, but the plumbing needs help. The overflow is working and for the most part pretty quite, but the drain into the sump is pretty loud.
I have built my own sump and made a drain tower. I ran the drain from the Durso to the tower via a horizontal run, but ran into the flushing effect Richard Durso's web site - Flushing Effect. After making the change to a 45 degree down pipe - the water level in the over flow seems rock steady.
To solve the flushing effect and as a temporary measure - I ran a 45 degree pipe just below the water line in the sump - I hope to run into the tower.
Should the Durso empty onto a pile of rock in the tower? should it be above or below the water line?
The pump is a Mag 12. The drain is 1 1/2 inc the return is 1 inch.
