Ok,
I have approx. 150lbs of LR in my 90 gallon tank.

Originally, on a couple pieces, there was this green marine plant or aglae.
It is wiry and strong, I can't find anything that will eat it.
I spoke to someone @ Aquatic Designs and he said they have some of it on some rock and nothing there will eat it either.

That is the bad news, the worse news it has gradually spread to the majority of my LR, some worse than others.
I can't afford to go buy new LR and even if I could, I'm afraid that it will somehow be spread to the new LR by the water from my tank.

Does anyone have a suggestion?
I'm to the point I feel like all the LR in my tank with any sign of this stuff on it, is ruined. Granted it's still LR, but it's just dang ugly now.

I would remove it and scrub it with wire brush and place in a rubbermaid tub with a powerhead in it. Between scrubbing it off and leaving it in the dark for a week, I would think you could get rid of the macro algae. You may loose corraline, but it will come back.

I was wondering that.
Wondering if keeping it in the dark would eventually kill it off.
I haven't checked the LR in my refugium because its too hard to get to, and there is so much calurpa on top of it, I can't see in.

cut

Pull it off with plyers if its long enough, then scrub scrub scrub. And if there is no prized specimines on the rock, you could flip it over and the algae will be in a non lit enviroment if you dont want to leave it unlit for a week or two. May only work if you cant leave it unlit in another location.

Sorry ahead of time if my spelling and capitalization isnt correct.

i heard coline algea likes actinic lighting(dont know if its true) but if you dont have alot of coral you could try just actinic for alil while or less 10k
but i've heard of people starting tanks with just actinic to get the coline growing. just a thought. maybe put in something by its self with the actinic.
