Mechanical filtration? (1 Viewer)

I have a 20g tank set up with about 20lbs of live rock, 1.5" sand bed and a remora HOB skimmer? Since I am not running a sump does this tank require some type of mechanical filration?

I used a small fluval canister for water polishing and to run carbon in. I had to stay on top of the media and filter pad changes.

As reef said I've used a canister before but do nit run carbon all the time do to the fact that it pulls many of good things u want in ur tank out. But filter floss and and some other pads would be great for polishing.

Or just run a HOB skimmer like the CPR and do a 20% water change once a week.
