I would just buy an icecap for that much. $114.00 on ebay for a 250W.

my ballas is an ADVANCE M-58 ( i think the same kind you are using )no ignitor, running 250w hamilton 20kk, bulbs are about 3 months old, and they are still very brite

Yeah mushrooms, if you look at the link 3 posts up it says all the bulbs we can use with the M-58 ballasts you and I have and Hamilton is one of them. Looks like I will have to save up and get a couple. The Hamilton I have on there now is black so I guess they lied when they said it was a new bulb on ebay, thats why it is dark. The other sun aquatics not sure if is compatible with the M-58 so that is why it could be dark. Thanks guys.
