The reason they are "moon" light is because of the supposed mimic of the moonlight. If you used green or other color, it wouldn't be mimicing the moon anymore. If you just want them for a cool lighting effect, then use what your heart desires.

Where do you get the leds and resistors for a reasonable price? I went to Radio shack, and they didn't have the dark blue lights, the ones they did have they wanted $3, EPO was worse they only had the light blue leds and wanted $8... There must be someplace that is reasonable or it wouldn't pay to make them?
