I am setting up a new aquarium since we just moved to the Houston area, does anyone have any suggestions on ways to left a 300g onto the stand. I was hoping to find a way to do this with limited people, since i dont have 10 guys to pick it up.... Anyone do something like this?

Renting suction cups helps a lot with lifting large aquariums, but unless you find a hydraulic lift or similar somewhere you'll still need the manpower to lift it. Where in Houston do you live? Might be able to find some MARSHians willing to help :) Happens quite frequently.

I forgot about the suction cups, those will help alot! We just moved to League city (South of Houston a bit). Any good stores down this way?

Careful with the suction cups - they are not meant to lift perpendicular to the connection. So if you put them on the side, they have a chance of sliding off. I'm guessing you have a glass aquarium, or this wouldn't be an issue.

With mine (190g), three relatively strong people could move it easily. I would suggest some of the furniture movers with the wheels on the bottom to slide it around to the right area, then a few people to lift. You could also go with some type of lift table (like this: Rental - Lift Table - Hydraulic Cart) but you will probably still need a few people to make the final move. Two men and a truck, etc, are pretty good at this kind of thing from what I've heard.

It is glass, and we moved it in with furniture dolly's but getting it vertical is going to be tough. The lift table looks like a good idea, just get a few guys to slide it back.

I rented a material lift to lift my 350 onto a 42" stand. Depending on the size you might want two. It was a little scary when at the top and the load rating on those things is pretty wimpy when it gets that high up. We did it with only 3 people though.

Just moved a 600 gal this weekend 8 people could not pick it up, we got it on and off a stand with concrete blocks.
start by putting blocks 3 1//2 inch blocks on one side with a piece of ply wood on top. then blocks to the other side
you keep raising it a little at a time until your high enough to slide the tank onto the stand. we did the blocks on each side
doublewide for stability.

Not lifting thats what the other 8 guys were for. If I hadnt been there they would have tore the other guys house up getting that tank in the house and up on the stand.

I also live in League City(Tuscan Lakes) and am willing to help. I'm on call this coming week though, so I can't make any promises on availability until the week after.

i have a 210 and me and one other guy lifted it up and on to the 40" stand.

i would think that 4 guys and one person there to help be the backseat driver( in my case my wife ;) ) would be able to move this thing. if you werent so far away i would come help you out, i know there are several people on Marsh that are in that area. hopefully they will chime in
