Standard t-12 flourescents will work

They didn't work worth a darn on my eclipse hood. I put several different kinds of mushrooms in the tank with my lionfish, and had to remove nearly all of them. I've only got a couple that seem to like that low a light level. I'm gonna put at least one of the 65w pc lamps over the top of it to replace the 2 t-12 marine glo bulbs I've got in it now.

my hood has t-5s but they are only white. I like the blue bulbs but dont think they make them in the size i need.

Well then i would suggest gettin a couple VHO's as they are the next PAR rating up from t-12's.

I had shrooms growing extremely well under t-12's for a long time (reds and blues). Wasn't until after i switched to 2x175w MH's that i saw a huge increase in growth rate. But if you dont want to go hardcore just yet, stick to VHO's. They're cheap and effective.

shrooms will survive under not-so-bright lighting, but I have 200 watts of PC light over a 20 gallon cube and my purple mushrooms are HUGE.

They just love light. Can't wait to see what happens in my 150 when I install the MH/VHO setup in a few months.

I have 260 watts of PCs and mine are growing very quickly. I have mine down on the sandbed on a 55g.

I had red and purple ones under regular flourescents, and they were fine and were multiplying. Now they are under PCs and VHOs, so they are much happier.

now why arent my huge under my lights? 110watts of pc over a 20L should be alot but my red pimple ones are shrivled and starting to detach themselves.im looking any any t-5 to fit. these are only about 6inches long if that. JEBO just makes the regular white bulbs to fit it. Oh well it will just be a fresh water plant tank for now.

Uh, is a water parameter fluxing a lot?
Salinity? Temp (though mine don't seem bothered by this)? nitrates? ph?

Did you upgrade your lighting suddenly?? Maybe they are "melting".

no, about a month ago i added some t-5s to the mix but my new hairys and the false ric are doing great. I got some red mushrooms and the false at the same store at the same time. Every thing is stable. nitrates are around 5 or less. Ca is high but its from the oceanic salt im using.
