ive been to karensanenomes it helped but id like to get more info, my new bta has been acting funny. in the store it was a bright green but now its a tanish green colour. its mouth is either wide open or closed it changes from time to time. and it wont settle in on the rock it stays on the sand. also, are there any tricks or methods to make my false perc clown fish host my bta ?? any answers or tips would be greatly appreciated.. you can also reach me via e-mail .. garrett_herrmann@yahoo.com

I have a perc that I had for 2 years before he hosted anything; now he owns a head of Duncan coral and some green hairy mushrooms.

Sounds to me like the anemone is reacting well to something in your water chemistry. What are your parameters?

Water parameters would be your salinity, calcium, alkalinity, PH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels.

If you don't have test kits you can generally take your water into your LFS to have them test it for you. You'll get lots of opinions on which test kits are the best but a good starter kit is the Red Sea Marine Lab Test kit which has the most important tests Marine Lab includes tests for: pH, Alkalinity, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate.

For salinity - Invest in a Refractometer. The floating tools are not very accurate and often off.

The most important thing to shoot for is small adjustments and stability. Your tank may be too immature for anemone's.

Can you tell us a little about your setup?

Tank Size
filtration
Lights

maybe even some pictures.

Sorry to hear about the nem... doesn't sound like its going to make it but I've seen them pull through.

although mr. surfer.. before you let me use your light fixture it was only 24 watt lighting.. all i have is tht one light now im borrowing your 28 watt light so.. maybe the light will be good... but ya my ph is 8.5 it was 79 degrees when i turned my lights off the salinity is at 1.025.. idk the calcium levels.. havnt tested.. but ya the anemone's mouth closed and it attached to the rock hopefully the light fixture im borrowing will bring out the colour in the bta if not, ima be freaking out and start looking some more for tips and answers
