Hello, I have been doing freshwater for a little over 10 years and i'm ready for saltwater. I'm new to the sump thing. To make things easier for me(in keeping tank stable), I bought a 260g reef ready. I bought a mag 18 but am thinking now that I should of went with more GPH. Should I go with a mag 24? The tank will be FOWLR. There will be a 6' head. Or should I stick with the mag 18 and add more circulation?
I have three holes in the overflow( 2 drains, 1 return) and 2 holes in the middle of the tank. I plan on plugging up the 2 holes in the middle of the tank. My question is where should I put valves at? I'm thinking right after the bulkheads and return pump. Also how tall should the standpipes be? I have more questions i'll ask later. Thanks

You've already decided this will be a fowlr. Why even bother with excessive flow? Flow is really only crucial when it comes to corals.

I'd stick with the mag 18, put off buying powerheads and see how the fowlr feels at first. You can always upgrade pump or add power heads later.

Put a valve after the return pump (line going FROM return pump back to tank). Put unions before & after return pump.
