I am in the middle of a plumbing in a new skimmer when will it be safe to turn it on. On my way back to Lowes for a new power strip just shocked myself. Good thing I live accross the street from Lowes.

By the time you get back from Lowes you should be ready to be back in business.

If you used regular pvc primer and cement you should be fine. The primer and cement are safe for human consumption so I am sure it will not have an adverse effect in your tank. I would do a search on reefcentral as I'm sure it has been asked before.

Once the bleeding stops I'll get back to work. I just sheered off three layers of skin on my thumb shuving a bag of carbon between the baffles in my sump. That glass is sharp. I am on to Walgreens for bandaids and back to Lowes to get a new can of pvc glue bececause this one is dried shut. I opened my first beer to ease the pain and am trying to figure out as I type with my left hand how I cut the top side of my pinky too. What is DIY w/o a little O+ all over the floor. I don't know how I am going to clean the blood off the ceiling.
I can't fix or build anything with out a little ritual blood letting. :?

Ok back to work, need to glue PVC now. Have you ever put on a band-aid in a store; I have. Miracle of miracles, as I was quitely putting on the cheapest band-aids I could find I was looking around to see if anyone was watching and what did I see Mrs. Wage's pickling lime. I never would have guessed it was next to the freezer bags.

SuperGlue works well on cuts also. Stings like hell but seals them right up.

For all of those following my saga...
The skimmer I bught used leaked from the bottom which would be fine if I was using it in sump but instead I plumed it outside of the sump. I'm back to Lowes for Aquarium sealent hopefully that will stop the leak. BTW I think I am going to open an exhibit at MFAH my sloppy primer job looks like modern art. The only thing that is keeping me sane at this point is the "Taste of the Rockies" ahh refreshing. For the record so far 4 Coors Light, 4 trips to Lowes, 4 Band-Aids, 3 Different Leaks from the skimmer, 3 Wet Towels, 2 Things I need to return, 1 trip to Home Depot, 0 Showers today (This was supposed to take an hour.)
To be continued...

one Hour

My wife has quickly learned that when I say I need to work on the aquarium for "15 minutes" she might as well go take a 2 hour nap....then when she wakes up I'll only have about an hour left to go. :D
