I will be completing the frame of my new 180 gal stand today and just want some opinions on hieght. My current plan has the top of stand at 38" off finish floor. I want to know if anyone has a 180 (72x24x25.5) tank set up around this hieght and if you had issues.

All opinions appreciated.

Side question: What type of paint for the back glass of the tank?

Thanks

That would be a very nice height!

Only thing I see wrong with it is the occasional need for a step ladder.

I just painted the back of my tank and just used the cheap flat black spray paint....it won't be in contact with the water so I didn't bother.

Don't sweat it Jim, I'm 6' tall and still use a step ladder for the big one in my living room.

mine was at 36"... couldn't reach the bottom except with a stool... and i used a light blue spray paint for the back glass.... i love the look of it compared to black tanks. keeps the tank looking bright

my stand is 32'' tall i think... it's a nice height.. gives you room to work under there... i dont know how 36'' will look.. but i don't think it would be bad at all.. being that the tank is a 300 gal... the stand wont look overwhelmingly tall compared to the tank...

Sweet, I just painted one of my 75's a semi-dark blue. I think it looks awesome! Do you have any pics of yours?

You will be happier with the taller stand or atleast I am. You can work under the tank with out taking everything apart.

The stand for my 125 is 44" to the bottom of the tank. I have enough room under the stand to fit a 36" tall skimmer and still be able to remove the cup.
