Was looking over the tank this evening and found a brand new critter. It is a bit too small for me to get focused, but is a good deal bigger than a pod. I would say near the size of a small blue leg shell & all. Except this thing dont have a shell, it has a large foot like a snail and two increadibly long antenna. the foot and lower body is a drab grey and the humped back is darker almost black. I appears to have two rather large eyes but did not flinch when the camer flashed. I'm not sure what to make of it, without a picture I know it is hard but anyone have any ideas?

I think you nailed it :) hard to imagine why it even bothers with what passes for a shell :)

These are very good snails to have in a reef tank. Stomatella snails don't get very big and since they don't have a shell they won't knock over corals or rockwork.

....and they eat hair algae!!!! Unfortunately, they are virtually defenseless given their lack of protection. Which means wrasses and any other wolf like predators, necessary for keeping our clams clean of pyramid snails, will strip the system of them in a very short time. I hate the tradeoffs we have to make as reefers. There always seems to be a catch.
