well then LED is your best option...you can have EVERYTHING with it...i get with my little AI Nano like 1200 PAR right under the light...and i get around 100 PAR on the bottom of my tank which is perfect for my mushrooms. so all my SPS are close to the top and middle of the tank under the light and the rest is somewhere else under less PAR. but i never have to bother again about bulbs and stuff. telling you after going with T5s for 4 year and having this LEDs now...i can tell you if you got the money go with LEDs.

I know you don't want to buy lights twice and you probably won't. Honestly, it will be 3,4,5, or even 6 times...lol. Right now, I have T-5s and some MH(metal halide) in the garage. I have a few LED stunner strips in the garage also. Never set up anything other than the T-5. However, after going to the lighting workshop last week, I like the LEDs. They don't have quite the power of MH but electricity wise they are much less. They produce no heat, you can cook bacon on MH. The initial cost of LEDs are more but better for the long run IMO. Both of these stups to provide the "shimmer" effect though. My T-5s do not.

FULLY agree with you on this. the shimmer is so bada$$! it looks like a real reef. when you dive you see the shimmer go tru the water and now i got it at home. and the water reflects it on my wall so late at night when i only run the blue lLEDs my living room shimmers in blue...so COOL

Sounds like led's are the way to go. Now were talking 48" lights for a 75gal tank. Marineland makes the reef capable for $379.99. Is this good? Or is there something else cheaper that's just as good?

Bill, you need to stop by my house and check out my LEDs. Very effective and cheap. You outght to check out my tank since I am so close anyways. I probably walk my dog past your section every other day. I live in the crossing.

Hey there Richard. I've actually been to your house awhile back. I picked up some stuff out of your pond in the backyard for my puffer tank. We will have to get together soon.
