Welcome aboard!

The skimmer might/might not work but if you are good with the maintenance on the tank you can get by without it on a 10g.

You will need some live rock to aid in the filtration of the tank as well as some sort of water circulation normally from a powerhead.

With lighting you have to decide if you wanna spend the money now for a light that will support corals or wait till you are ready to buy them. With that in mind I prefer Metal Halides but since you said affordable and efficient then that might not be your choice.

With the water thing....I buy mine from the LFS but I still test it when I get home and on a few occassions I have had to remix for sg. so either way you need to have the testers to make sure it is all good.

Cycling is one of those things that does not have a set time limit.....some tanks cycle faster then others and that will be determined by testing your water through the cycle. Look up Nitrogen cycle and expect to see something similar before being able to add fish.....after the tank establishes itself a little longer then add the corals.

That looks pretty nice.

Try searching on Nano-reef.com for more info on that tank....I have seen a few guys with that tank over there.

I am using the JBJ NC12g that I modded with just about everything I could find to do to it and love it! Will probably sell it soon though or use it for a frag tank since like every other reefer space becomes a restraint and upgrades are in order.

That one is probably the crappiest of crap.

Look into the Sapphire Aquatics skimmer.
