Anyone want to carpool to Next Wave 2012? Leave early in the morning and get back late at night?

It would be the first weekend in March. If all goes well we will be moving that weekend. All depends on me finding us a new place I hope to be moved before that weekend and start on my new tank build.

Well, I went to NextWave 2012 in Arlington last weekend (bought fishboyt's ticket). FredG, Slayer, and another new Marshian (sorry, can't remember the name right now) were there also. Anybody else from MARSH go?

There were about 300 attendees this year, down from over 400 last year.
The speakers were ok, 2 were very good, and 2 were just so - so.
Christine Williams gave a very good talk about animals in our tanks there are poisonous, toxic, or venomous.
Paul Whitby's talk about aquascaping was extremely interesting. I learned some good stuff from him. I would highly recommend him as a speaker at a future MARSH meeting. He's out of Oklahoma.
Tony Vargas's talk about nice tanks and how they got that way was just ok, not much new info. But he did have some good videos of some of the top tanks in the country.
John Coppolino's talk about modern fish keeping techniques was just ok also. He mostly talked about his angel fish.

Several very high end coral vendors were there, Jason Foxx, Steve Tyree, etc. The Tyree group, Coral Farmer's Market, held auctions several times during the day. Very very beautiful frags going for lotsa $$$.

But the best part was that I got really lucky in the raffles. I bought $60 worth of raffle tickets and ended up with about $400 worth of stuff. I got an American Marine Pinpoint pH controller, an American Marine pH monitor, a copepod pack from Algagen, a pack with every one of the Brightwell products plus a couple of large containers of Ocean Nutrition fish food.

Overall, I thought the whole event was very nice, well done by the DFW club.

good luck,
Steve

Glad to hear you had a good time, and thanks for telling us about it!

$400.00 worth of stuff isn't bad for a $60.00 investment. :)
