Noisy SCWD? (1 Viewer)

I installed a SCWD on my closed loop last weekend. It's working great, except it's noisy - it's a mechanical sound, like I can hear the gears turning. Anyone else with SCWD's have this problem? Do you think it will go away (I've read that sometimes they get air bubbles trapped inside) or should I go ahead and return it before it's too late?

i would try just flushing the system. also you might want to check your pump and the lines running from and t0 it.

Mine did the same thing. It worked great for about 6months. Then I turned the return pump off for some tank maintenace. When I turned the pump back on the scwd stopped working. I took it off to check it out, and found that a small propeller thingy broke off . I was pushing about 1000gph through it, but I don't know how much pressure it was under. I'll probably get another, but I was sure disappointed that it broke.

It's been almost a week and it still hasn't quieted down. I think it's defective and will probably return it. I wish we could get some confirmation that the 1" SCWD is really coming out in July like they have been saying. If so I would just hold out for the new version.

they seem to be all talk and no action. I don't understand what's the hold up on larger scwds. frustrating :x

because I want to set up a SCWD but I want the larger 1" SCWD I email the manafacture and they told me that

1"SCWD should be ready around SEPT

So they've gone from March to July to September now for the ship date. What do they think this is - a software project?

I read that the list price for the 1" SCWD would be $79, which sounds about right since the regular SCWD lists for $59. After the initial rush of orders, you will probably be able to pick it up for much less, just like you can the regular SCWD.
