Pearly Jawfish, courtesy of Dennis at FJW. I think I bugged him for quite a while for this guy, but he came through for me. Great shop!

I'd grab a picture of the clownfish, but he's so darn fast that my cell phone camera doesn't get a good shot of him.

Well, I've been into freshwater for a few years and finally took the plunge into saltwater. Since I have to move around every few years, I really didn't want to deal with a big tank, so when I saw the biocube on clearance, I jumped at it.

MODS:

Removed tab from chamber 1 and 2 to increase flow
Removed both false bottoms and sponge in chamber 3
Removed bioballs
Installed InTank media basket with 4LED light on back of tank
InTank basket has filter floss on top, chemipure elite in the middle, and chaeto on the bottom
Cut screens in front of fan to allow twice as much air to come in.
upgraded stock fans to these.
Two more fans added to feeder lid

Equipment:

Hydor Pico 1200
Koralia Nano 240
Hydor Flo Deflector

Stock:
B/W ocellaris clownfish
pearly jawfish
Tail spotted blenny
CUC (nassarius, cerite, florida cerith snails, blue legged hermit crab, scarlet red hermit crab, yellow tipped hermit crab)
1 cleaner shrimp
1 peppermint shrimp
1 pom pom crab
1 emerald crab (MIA since about 20MAY12)
2 random zoas
frogspawn

Right now, I'm pretty much done with the tank for a bit. The only equipment I plan on adding is replacing the PC's with an LED setup either from ecoxotic or rapidled...not sure yet but those are the two names I see thrown around a lot. I'm not too big on corals yet, probably because I don't have the lighting for it. I'd like to add some macros and maybe some ricordea, but other than that I have to do some research and see what would work best where.

I'm getting sick of the chaeto in the fuge setup in the back because little pieces of chaeto end up getting sucked through the sump and into the display. I currently have a sponge in the third chamber to reduce the amount of chaeto that gets through, which seems to be helping.

That amount of cheato is not worth the hassle of taking in and out. I would just take them out if that was me. Not gonna reduce your nitrate that much. Just your basic water change will do. And enjoy your cube! Looks good btw. I just started on my bio built also. These are so cool.

I've heard varying things on the chaeto, but you're right; it's seriously maybe a softball size of chaeto. I might just replace it with purigen...then no more mess or having to worry about cleaning the sponge in the back. That way I could sell the led light I have in the back too! Gotta fund this habit somehow!
