I need a little help from the experts. I bought 2 ocellaris clowns about a month ago. The first week was good, they got along well. Then I put in a Ritteri anemone, and things haven't been good since. The "female" has taken over the rettori. They were sharing for the first day or 2, then the battle began. Now every chance the "female" gets, she strikes at the other one. He does a tail shimmer to show submission, but she will not leave him alone. He's starting to show signs of wear, but still living. He spends most of his time running from her than anything else. How long should I let this go on? Any help would be appreciated.

Typical agression with the addition of the anenome. She will get used to illiciting the shake out of him and do it less and less, soon he will be able to sleep in it and later share it. Don't worry I have not heard of a case of the death of a Ocellaris in pairing he'll be ok. On a side note I am sure you know Ritteris are EXTREMLY difficult and take tons and tons of light and flow.

Thanks for the help. I wasn't really sure if I should pull them apart or give them some more time. And as for the ritteri, I'm aware of the difficulty of keeping them. I hopefully have enough water movement and lighting. The tank they're in is a 65gal. w/2 250w mh pendants and a mag 9.5 running the tank w/3 power heads pushing x amount of water. I'm hoping for the best.

Protect your powerheads and be ready for it to move they are rock dwelling anenomes and will want a spot right under you MH with the power heads blowing on it. I would make sure you target feed it often while it is new it looks a little light right now but that is understandable for all the stress its been under. Best of luck ritteris are awesome and I am glad your female hopped right in. Is she tank raised or wild caught?
