My attempt to try to DIY a protein skimmer stand with egg crate. The attempt was nice, designed well but didn't withstand weight well and collapsed so I added a middle brace which than cause vibration sound which was annoying.

After that fail attempt I looked around for ideas and thought this would be another good cheap DiY with PVC pipes and tees. Total cost $10 works really well the only problem now is top of the skimmer and bottom of the stand is around 2in or less very tight fit. Love this skimmer dials in really accurately. I'll take pictures of the skins later.

Those eggcrate should hold up I could be wrong that if it's under water it less pressure, but PVC looks good also. Let's see the thing turn on and still hold it's balance John. Good idea there!

2 clowns
Borbonius blotched anthias
Blue spot Jawfish
Potters
1 Ignitus
2 Lyretail

I wanted to get all these tangs but all the waste :(
What you guys think of this list mostly anthias and wrasse.?

Are you familiar with the blue spot jawfish? I just wanted to pass along that they have a pretty dismal survival rate if you didn't know already.

List looks good. I'd look into resplendent anthias if you want a stunning anthia that's not like over $60 a fish.

Not very familiar at all! My last set up was simple with yellow tang 6line wrasses, and 2 clowns . Didn't really go in depth research on all the fish.

What would you recommend to replace jawfish and anthias.

Huge fan of a Midas blenny, has a similar shape but very hardy and great personality. It doesn't dwell in the sand though if that is what you're looking for.

Your anthia selection is just fine. I was just going to toss my hat in for the resplendent anthias because they are stunning.

I don't have a good picture of mine but you can see them in the video.

I did have a midas blenny in my last but it jumped!! [emoji17] Needing to get a lid but the lid I like is made by artfully Acrylic. But very costly

I like Ty suggestion
3 resplendent anthias
1 blotched borbonius anthias
1 Potter wrasse
2 clowns

And a midas blenny

I think you'll really like the resplendents. I researched anthias for years before pulling the trigger on these guys. Not disappointed at all. They aren't commonly available though so may have to wait a bit.

I got a trio of carberryi last week and I'm loving them. Resplendents are nice looking too.

The borbonius though, that's on my bucket list. I tried once last year and it died in QT after two days :sad2:
