Hi Everyone,
Just to let anyone knows that our houses have been burglarized on friday during daylight. I'm glad we were not home during the burglary. If you have a security system do set it on when you leave your house. If you don't have a security camera do get one. I will be adding some to our houses. My family is a little traumatized of the incidence. Please anyone be Alert / Aware of yours surrounding and have a safe holiday.

Sorry to hear that my friend.
Being a victim is always a bad experience, the worst part is you'll never forget.
Having a security system with cameras is always a no brainer..............just think for a moment what we all do for our hobby........... you always want to be on the save side, Sensors, Controller, backups, even a camera pointed to your tank as you can check it when you got a Email from your controller.
Why wouldn't you do this to your home?
Sometimes leaving the radio on as you can hear it when walk up to the door will help, leaving a pair of old used work boots size 13 (buy in a garage sale) by the front and back door gives all a indication that someone might be home.
These cowards are not in for a confrontation, knowing that each homeowner can have a gun and the outcome isn't pretty.
Having a dog or dogs that do bark when someone shows up at the door is a other security.

Sorry to hear about this. Glad your ok.

Highly recommend a video surveillance system but there are several out there that are not good. You have to pay a monthly fee to record your video such as Dropcam and many others. I had AT&T Digital life video cameras which is ok but I also had a Night Owl system with 12 cameras. The AT&T Digital Life cameras were not that great. Too big and bulky. I didn't like the $5 extra a month fee per set of cameras AT&T charged.

For about $400 you can get a Night Owl security system with 1 TB DVR and 8 cameras that you can access from anywhere with no monthly fee. It even works with your mobile smart phone and/ or iPad. I highly recommend this system. With Apple TV you can share your iPad screen with your TV. I always leave my iPad Night Owl view up on my screen in my living room to see whats going on out side. It is also neat to see who is at the front door before you answer it without having to look outside.

Stay safe my Aquarius friends.

I felt the same way at first but when they didn't a sign contact from me he got a little irritated. A month later our houses was burglarized. He was the only one that had been in my houses lately and know the layout. He knew what system I have and what we don't have. I can't proof it but deep down inside I have that bad feeling. If you already have a system my recommendation is to get add some motion and glass sensor to your houses. Most company doesn't install motion in the master or glass sensor. Glass sensor is usually extra cost. Now my houses will be over protected just to insured my 6 yrs. old daughter feel safe again.

That really stinks, Andrew. We had Vivint canvas our neighborhood a year or so ago, and the guy was telling me he can show me all of the defects in my system and how I need to upgrade. He had all of my info too, which was not good IMO. I told him we had a good friend that owns an alarm company and he set us up so I did not need their services, plus someone is home most of the time. He went on his way. Several neighbors did get the system and are happy with it, so I'm sure not all of them are "bad".

Good luck on the new system!

I have decided that from now on, anyone that knocks on my door will provide me a copy of their drivers license before I will talk to them. If they refuse to do that, I refuse to talk to them. That puts them on the defensive now and not me.

Yup glass sensor in master bathroom window. They usually come in from master bath. It's a little pricey but it's worth it.

Yup they are a little pricey but no expenses spared this time to protected the family. Also for extra security I will be getting IP cameras install as well.

Not many houses have motion or glass sensor in the master. I advice each home owner go around the house and see what you have in. I suggest if you don't have any motion or glass sensor in the master or house do add them. The glass sensor will be your first defense in a burglary. The motion will be your next defense if they get passed the glass sensor.

The wife has been on my case about a security system for a while now, and the vivint team is canvasing our neighborhood now. Anybody have any real experience with them beyond the "all the internet reviews suck" and "you can't get out of the contract no matter what" type complaints?

I'm interested if somebody has some real experience with the product and company.

Thanks
James
