Would like to extend my existing roof to build a patio and pour concrete all in one fell swoop for time constraint is of the essence. I've taken small projects around the house like laying wood floor, tiles, pavers, patching leaks in the roof, etc. but nothing of this magnitude up to date. Below are some of the questions I'd like answered please. Many thanks!

What is the minimum thickness I can get by?

Should I bury the vertical beams or go with base post?

Can i pour concrete over an existing small section of pavers?

Can I attach cross beams to build a roof to the horizontal ledger that came with the house or they need to be removed in lieu of new ones.

Question of the day.....

Do women like sweaty, shirtless men or tank top suffice :)

I meant to ask can I tie in a horizontal beam into an existing rafter or do i need to remove it first then but up the beam? I notice on youtube some peeps take them off then put another beam in its palce while other leave them on then just attached another beam to it. Sorry for the confusion.

Also, HD is having a sale on QUikrette ready to use 60lbs bag for $1.99 would that work?

It looks like I might have to contract this project out to a professional then if one bag yields only half a foot. No point in me breaking my back moving roughly about 200 bags of cement.

Oh and I meant to ask do I have to replace our current rafter and put a new one in so it'll be more sturdy? I've seen people did that just didn't know the logic behind it.
