Hey y’all, my power has been out for almost an hour now. I’ve got 3 battery air pumps going and my battery backup kicked on (thank god). Anybody else? Last time this happened I lost a bunch of shrimps and I’m terrified to lose more
Don’t ask... just got a holy grail torch last monthHow much money do you have tied up in corals and fish?
Do you have lights over your tank and powerheads to move the water in the tank around? If so, why?Don’t ask... just got a holy grail torch last month
Nah I don’t really bother with all that techy stuff I do it old school . Steam engine is multipurpose, works as a heater and scoots the water around. Fire also lights the tankDo you have lights over your tank and powerheads to move the water in the tank around? If so, why?
A fire is still light. My point is, you have lights on your tank so your corals don’t die. You have powerheads so your fish and corals don’t die. So why in the heck would you live in hurricane alley and not have a generator? It’s 100% guaranteed that you’re going to lose power. Those batteries won’t get you very far.Nah I don’t really bother with all that techy stuff I do it old school . Steam engine is multipurpose, works as a heater and scoots the water around. She did say she grabbed oil for the generator. I would assume she was either not at home or trying to figure out if pulling out the generator was necessary and if it was time for a fuel run.A fire is still light. For less than $500 you can power your tank, refrigerator, a window unit, a tv, etc. You probably have $5,000-10,000 in corals/fish in your tank and no way to last a few days without power. The issue isn’t money either, considering you’re spending $1,000+ for a single head of torch, same as a lot of us. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. Just have a generator and a fuel supply on hand otherwise you’re knowingly gambling with your tank inhabitants.

I do have a genny, not worth busting out for a 3 hour outage thoughPower just came back on, grabbed some oil for the generator just in case it goes out in the middle of the night
