A separate thread to discuss the use of Probidio products. I have been using EcoBak as a means of increasing bacterial consumption of nitrates and phosphates. While I am relatively pleased with the results, I've read glowing reports on RC about the use of BioDigest and Bioptim to help drive down nutrient levels.

A few of you offered some comments on the other thread and I greatly appreciate that. If you would please, expand on your earlier comments to include:

1. What drove your decision to implement dosing of Probidio products?

2. What products are you dosing and in what manned did you begin the dosing regimen?

3. How long before you began seeing results?

4. What is your maintenance dosing regimen?

5. Is there anything you would change about the implementation or current regimen?

6. Are you dosing any carbon sources?

7. Any tips for someone who is considering the use of these products?

Thanks in advance!

1. I wanted a quick and easy way to help control no3 and po4.

2. after a lot of reading I just got the bioclean kit package. This included bio-digest and bioptim.

3. about 2 weeks. Theres not much documentation of prodibio out there. I followed one guided that said to dose biodigest once a week for the first month instead of every 2 weeks.

4. Every week so when right after I did a water change. Then every 2 weeks. First sat and 3 sat of the month.

5. actually it was a good system. The only thing I would change would be the cost. For a bigger tank, dosing prodibio can become expensive.

6. I used to run biopellets. But ive seen switch over to all Zeovit and use Zeostart3 ( carbon source )

7. If you do decide to use it, it does work so I would invest into a larger kit like those from aquarium specialty. I would go with 1-2 of the 30 pack.

But IMHO vodka/mb7 and zeovit worked better. The only real thing prodibio has going for it is ease of dosage. If you can mess with your tank for more than 10 mins a day... and don't mind the extra work/risk. Then maybe the more complex systems would be better for you.

1. What drove your decision to implement dosing of Probidio products?
Control of Nitrate and Phosphate without using gfo and biopellets

2. What products are you dosing and in what manned did you begin the dosing regimen?
Aquavitro Fuel once a week, 2 caps of strontium once a month, 2 caps of Potassium every 2 weeks before I brought the CA reactor online. Now just the Aquavitro.

3. How long before you began seeing results? 2 days

4. What is your maintenance dosing regimen? 1 vial Biotim and 1 vial of Biodigest every 15 days.

5. Is there anything you would change about the implementation or current regimen? Nope

6. Are you dosing any carbon sources? Nope

7. Any tips for someone who is considering the use of these products? They are great, colors in my tank are vibrant and growth is nuts, inch a month on the Tyree PM. I like this over the ULNS because the product keeps them undetectible but not at zero. ULNS systems tend to have very pastel and pale looking colors that dont pop.

Appreciate the feedback guys. I'm going to pull the trigger and start a Probidio regiment using Digest and Bioptim (as soon as it comes in).

Will post detailed notes when I start and update along the way.
