I had a large colony of it growing like mad. I was about to start fragging it out.

But when I came home from the FD it had all dissapeared into nothing. There was no trace of it anywhere in the tank.

Everything else in the tank is doing great. Nothing has changed or was added. This stuff just flat out is gone in a 24 hour period.

It had been in my tank for about 6 months.

That is weird. It seems like if something in your tank fed on it it would have been feeding on it from the beginning as opposed to all of it overnight.?????

xenia can melt away into nothing at the drop of a dime. Kinda weird that it was completely gone in less than 24 hrs though.

I came over and stole it while you were at work last night. Sorry, but I needed some Xenia... ;)

Yes, and I noticed that you forgot to polish my shoes........again.

I would take a pic, but all it would show is an arrow of where it was and it was a lot of it.

I had half my xenia dissappear recently.
It was in 2 places in my tank, and one group melted away in a day or 2.
I had no explanation as to why.

I seem to do so well with pulsing xenia that I throw away huge clumps of it every three months or so. It's a weed I sometimes wish I didn't have in my tank.

My strain of it is known as "Aqua-nut's bulletproof Xenia"

I swear it will grow in your bathtub if you keep it full of water

If you want some, I can sell you a clump for $5. All I ask is that you show up at my offices where my tank is during business hours to get it.

PM me if you are interested. I'd check your water parameters really well though... xenia likes iodine and iodide supplements, which I dose once a month in very small quantities (five drops).

I'll keep you in mind when I get the 125g set up.

I started the project today. I am taking pics as I go along.

SueT sold me that Maxima about three or four months ago and I was concerned it wouldn't make it because I don't have MH, but I do have a butt load of PC lighting in the tank (600 watts).

It sits up high in the tank and seems to like it. Problem is that I can't see the coloring in in because my stand is quite high and it is also high in the tank. I have to get up on my step stool to see it in full glory.

Back to the xenia thread though. I tore off a clump and shoved it into a rock in my new 20 g cube at home three weeks ago and it's taken off already... even with a just-cycled tank. :p

Let me say this though... I was anxious to get some last year and now I have to weed it out of my tank quite often. It's noteworthy to say that you had better like xenia a lot if you put it in your tank because it will certainly take over if the parameters are right and you'll be pruning it back constantly.

Wish I could get all my corals to act like this!
