Is there some type of ideal ratio ya'll look for as far as hermit/snail per gallon? I've got a 72gal tank with about 10 or 15 hermits, 10 or so snails, and 4 small queen conches. Is this enough, too much, or not even close?
Thanks for any help.

Thats just because you have way to many small frags in your tank, if you would be softies you would not have this problem, they attach to the rock faster.

i personally think hermit crabs suck. If you don't have enough food for them(careful about your feedings) they'll start killing off snails. Also hermits kill one another.

i haven't seen hermits do much with hair algae as people claim.

Ratio

http://tampabaysaltwater.com/ Try this site and look at the "package" - recipe section

gallons figure the animals needed as if it was a 50 gallon tank:

1 pound per gallon Live Sand.
1 Serpent or Brittle star per 50 gal.

2 pounds per gallon Live Rock.
2 Tiger Tail Cucumbers per 50 gal.

1 Blue Leg Hermits per gal.
1 Peppermint shrimp per 50 gal.

1/2 Turbo Snail per gal.

It has worked well for me.

One other comment - is the current ratio working for you? Cleanup crew should take care of tank - so if things look good stay with what you have.

I will be stocking up on snails as my mantis shrimp eats them - so until I catch them (yes 3  ) - feed them snails :(

Thanks. I was just wondering because I've heard suggestions as high as 1-2 hermits per gallon. This just seemed to be pretty high. I guess I need to pick up some more.
