I was at Ocean Life this weekend to get a quote for a custom 100gal rimless by Planet Aquariums, when their Red Sea Reefers caught my eye. They appear to be pretty well designed and are definitely sleek. I'm leaning toward buying a reefer 450 now, anybody own one that might have input or opinions on the system?

I don't own one. But they are pretty cool and worth the price in my opinion. But you do know the reefer only comes with the stand tank and sump. U have to buy ur own equipment. If you want to buy it all together look at the max series! But I may get the biggest reefer for my living room! But overall I think it's a great system! Good luck!

Lucas. Happy reefing!

It's a great looking tank for the money but the only drawback is the width (front to back), it's too narrow. For a reef tank, the wider the tank the better.

There's the Reefer 525XL for that. The length is the same however you will gain 2.5" in width

I have a Reefer 350 and it's a great tank. I purchased used so I got what was available, but if I was to go new I'd be looking at the 425XL or 525XL. Most lights are designed for the deeper(wider?) tanks, so why not have the extra space.

I'm limited on width because of a floor transition near the fireplace. I placed an order with Ocean life yesterday for the 450 and it arrives tomorrow. I have to figure out lighting now, I bought an ap700 because I was planning on building a shorter tank. Think I'll have to double up or trade it for 3 hydra 26's
