oh i would like it if we used name tags at the frag swaps. NO one likes to introduce themselves.

They are all great ideas. I expected to get beat up, an instead it seems a lot of others feel the same way! Good!
So at least one area, gaining membership, looks like it can be improved upon pretty easily. Now one other thing besdies a welcome and you would have had my money and loyalty a year ago.
Say a week after the meeting. Just have someone call the new prospect.

I have never been a member of even the smallest baptist church that did not have a greeter and someone that followed up with visitors, but then they almost always KNOW each other and can easily tell WHO the visitors are, we will need to work on that part from simple begginnings

I would also like to volunteer to be a greeter.....I think we should greet everyone and give them a nametag with thier username and real name. If they don't have a username then just their real name. All we need is some blank nametags and a marker. When giving a nametag to someone you don't know, it would be easy to start up a conversation with them.

The first meeting that I went to, there were nametags. Everyone wrote their username and real name on them. I assumed that was the norm but then it never happened again. I have to admit that it helped. I'm horrible with names so it made me feel a lot more comfortable around a room full of strangers. It is something that is really simple to do and can make a difference.
Another simple thing to do is if you see someone you don't know at a meeting, say hello and introduce yourself. Just a simple hello will make someone feel welcome instead of feeling like they are in a room full of people that haven't noticed them or don't have time for them.
Just my 2 cents.

I have an idea. We could all make some hats with little springy versions of our avatars on them. That would be a riot.
But anyway I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome all members and non-members to our meetings and web site. I personally plan to make a better effort to attend more meetings and introduce myself to other people. I'm not shy a bit and look forward to meeting more of you.

I like the idea I started something. It already made me join the group! Nice to see very receptive folks, instead of hostile. Maybe Marshian are nice people!

I've kinda been away from the board more than on lately, and I haven't been to any recent meetings or get-togethers, but I usually will make the rounds at the meetings and introduce myself when I'm there. I'm the cute one who is always talking to someone
