I placed all three of mine directly on the Rock. Two of them moved and one of them stayed put. Looks like they will attach to anything, not just the substrate Under The Rock.
Agreed that they will attach to just about anything but
generally they seem to migrate toward the substrate and attach themselves to an area that it has something to anchor it. Even on the bottom of the tank under the substrate. The first one I acquired I had originally placed it on the rock
near the substrate and it moved and attached to the rock under the substrate. I’ve seen tanks where RFA’s are all over the place so they can find a place wherever they desire just like other anemones.
I placed it in the sand bed in a relatively high flow area, maybe it's still hiding.

Was there anything nearby that it could attach yourself to? Maybe just traveling around the bottom looking for something to attach itself to. They
seem to migrate toward moderate flow, because one of my RFA’s was in a higher flow area and moved around the edge of the rock to a moderate flow area.
