Dude that sucks!
But honestly, that's one ugly slug.

Is that a picture of him dead?

Not sure, the only place I have been able to sind on that looks like him was at FJW. I have been trying to find out to see if it was something I did wrong, but so far have had no luck

What kind was he?

It's a Sea Hare. They are great for eating Hair Algae but once they eat it all you have to supplement. They are hard to keep as they are very temperamental. Best option is to get one to take care of your algae problem, loan it to another reefer or sell it back to the LFS.

yep u have to also be careful as for those sea hare and the blue spotted sea hare will find its way into the smallest holes and get sucked up into your overflow and into your return pump then u have a major problem. The blue spotted ones are alot prettier in my opinion

Yeah, blue spots are really cool. Their blue spots fluoresce like corals, and they have weird skin folds that are just crazy. The common sea hares are more cute, but the blue spots are just weird. Both are great algae eaters.
