So.....I don't want to hear this....if he let the unit sit for several weeks before I bought it, the membranes are shot? So all the water I have already run through it I shouldn't use? You are not making my day here :-( But go ahead and tell me anyway...

I bet you live very near someone with a TDS meter who can do a quick check of your water, pre- and post-DI. I have one and live in Pasadena if you're anywhere near here. :)

THATs a good idea. Usually its just the membrane (as opposed to membrane(s)) The big one on top is the one that should never dry out. Even when they ship you a new one, it will come in a sealed bag with water in it. It can't split the water the same after it dries.

You can get the easily from home depot or buckeye. Nothing special about them, get a 60 gpd membrane.

Actually, I have a Kent Marine Maxxima Hi-S 60 GPD RO/DI unit in which I recently replaced the stock membrane with a Dow 75 GPD membrane, and the output is significantly increased. That unit never put out more than 40 GPD, but it definitely puts out 60 GPD now. I also installed a dial-in flow restrictor which was a great thing to do. I would suggest you buy the 75 GPD membrane from Buckeye if you find you need to replace your membrane.

I will check into that also....In the next few days, am I possibly ok to use the water I have already run through the unit?

That would depend on your TDS level. Personally, if it was more than 20 PPM, I'd buy the Watermill water until you can get your RO unit corrected. That's just my personal cutoff level, nothing scientific or anything. :)
