Happy Saturday everyone! I finally mounted my RO/DI unit to the wall in the garage but the canisters are heavy and tend to lean backward if that makes sense. I mounted a board on the wall into the studs and then screwed the brace for the unit into the board. Any suggestions for making the cannisters stay upright would be greatly appreciated. Also, I bought the unit from someone. How do I know when I need to replace the media in the canisters? It has not been run for 4 to 6 months. Thank you for the help. Have a great day!!:der:

1) As for the canisters leaning back against the wall i solved this issue by placing a 1/2" strip of wood on the wall almost at the bottom of the canister.
2) You can use a TDS meter to test the water quality. For the price I would replace the sediment filter and the carbon filter. The only thing that the TDS won't tell you to my knowledge is the amount of ammonia in the water put there my most local County/City water treat. Depending on the water treatment in your area you may need a different carbon filter. Check if you local water treatment plant is using chlorine or chloramine. If the water plan is using chloramine they also add ammonia for stabilization of the chemicals. You can check the ammonia levels on your RO/DI using the ammonia test kit.
3) Since it hasn't been run in a while I would also flush the membrane using a flush kit or removing the flow re stricter for about 3-5 minutes.

Hope this helps

If it was me I would replace them so you know they are good from the start. If that is not an option then what Jeremyee said is good advise.

Ok, I spoke with the guy from Buckeye Field Supply and he told me what I needed so I ordered replacement media and an extra canister but I have no idea what to do with it all. Is there anyone close to W. Little York and Hwy. 6 who would be willing to come explain how it all works and where everything goes? I'm a fast learner and like to do things myself but don't want to screw this up. :/ Help would be greatly appreciated. :confused2::help:
